Telangana: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy gave a religious example while talking about the diversity of the party at the state Congress executive meeting on Tuesday. He said that Congress takes together all types of ideas, just like different gods are worshiped in the Hindu religion.
According to the report, Revanth Reddy said, "There are different types of people in the Congress. Someone says he will worship Venkateswara, and someone says he will worship Hanuman. When there is no consensus on deities, how can we expect consensus on leaders and DCC chiefs?"
The Chief Minister further said that there is immense diversity of worship methods in the Hindu religion. He said, "How many gods and goddesses do Hindus have? Three crore? There is Hanumanji for the unmarried. There are separate gods for those who marry twice. Some local deities are worshiped with toddy and meat. While some people worship by eating pulses and rice."
Strongly condemn the comments made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy insulting Hindus and Hindu deities. The Congress has always been a party that bends before the AIMIM. Revanth Reddy himself said Congress is a Muslim party - that statement alone exposes their mindset. Congress… pic.twitter.com/E1yhVrNBy3

This statement of Revanth is being seen in the context of disagreement within the Congress regarding the appointments of new district presidents.
Telangana BJP leaders, including Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Bundy Sanjay Kumar, strongly criticized this comment. Kishan Reddy alleged that in the recent Jubilee Hills by-election, Revanth Reddy had said that “Congress means Muslims, and Muslims mean Congress.” He said the Chief Minister was making “arrogant comments about Hindus and Hindu deities” because of his proximity to AIMIM. “The time has come for Hindus to unite in Telangana,” he said.
Bundy Sanjay Kumar said, "Hindu society will have to think about whether it will suffer insults by remaining divided or will show its power by uniting. BJP never insults any religion. We respect all religions." State BJP president N. Ramachander Rao announced that protests would be held across Telangana on 3 December and the effigy of Revanth Reddy would also be burnt.
